On 3rd October 2025, a special awareness program was organized
for students at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Holi.
In this program, social worker Mr. Rahmdeen and Dr. Kiran Dhiman
from Shikshataru Education and Learning Foundation (SELF) provided
important information to students about drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.
The program began with a welcome address by the Principal of
the institute, Mr. Ashwini Sharma. In his address, he stated that in
today’s time, the youth are facing many social evils and challenges,
among which drug addiction and sexually transmitted diseases are
among the most serious issues. Therefore, it is very important to guide
students in the right direction.
On this occasion, the main speaker, Mr. Rahmdeen, addressed
the students and said that addiction in any form is harmful to both the
individual and society. He explained that drug abuse not only damages
health but also destroys economic, social, and family life. He
emphasized that discipline and determination during student life can
keep young people away from such evils. He urged all students not to
fall into bad company and to move forward with a positive mindset
while focusing on their life goals.
Dr.
Kiran
Dhiman, a member
of the organization,

Dr. Dhiman explained that although there is no permanent cure
for HIV, it can be prevented. Awareness, caution, and correct
information are the most powerful tools against it. She also advised
students not to discriminate against people living with HIV/AIDS and
encouraged everyone in society to support them so that they can live a
normal life.
During the session, students asked several questions and had
their doubts clarified. They found the program very beneficial and said
that they usually do not receive complete information on such topics,
but this session helped change their perspective.
Principal Ashwini Sharma thanked the members of Shikshataru
Education and Learning Foundation (SELF) and stated that such
programs should be organized regularly so that the youth can stay
protected from social evils and health-related challenges. At the end of
the program, all students took a pledge to stay away from drugs and to
spread awareness among others. On this occasion, Dharmpal, Vipin,
Gulshan Devi, Meenu Devi, and other staff members were present.
